Remember when a few weeks ago I wrote a post called How to Study? This week, it’s time to be honest with myself and make another guide: how to procrastinate.
Procrastination exists in all kinds of shapes and forms, and I’m no hesitant to say that if it was a procrastination, I would probably be the queen (and yes, I would make lame puns mandatory). Here’s some of my best procrastination actions!
A walk on the beach
Of course it doesn’t have to be the beach, but who doesn’t love the beach? If the weather is nice, this is an especially nice escape. Bonus points if you take a walk that takes you 5+ hours (this can include travel).
Baking a cake
Procrastination is always good for you, especially if you have cake. Cake is nice and soothing to make, and even better to eat. If you’re not just lazy about studying, but also about leaving the house, the best trick is to see what ingredients you have at home and pray it’s enough to bake without having to get groceries!

Binge-watching
This one is a classic. Some recommendations: I’m currently on That 70s show, but in the range comedy series with short episodes I also loved Friends, New Girl and How I met your mother. Other than that I’m a sucker for food-docs, Disney and whatever is on my Youtube watch later list.
Hanging out with friends
With this one you might want to be considerate of other people’s study processes, since it’s your choice to not-do anything, not necessarily theirs. But if you have some friends who are less busy or equally uninterested in working as you are, go for it! For fun things to do, see the above (;
Working
On other jobs. This is not always fun, but sometimes it has to be done and if you’ve been procrastinating on this other work as well, now is the perfect time to do it. Double negative equals positive!
Blogging
In fact, me writing this post is a whole new level of procrastination: it’s procrastinating while writing about procrastinating! I honestly wasn’t planning on doing this; I was planning on working hard and focused for a week straight. But to be honest, that’s just not really my style. I thrive when I’m relaxed, and although that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t put in the work, it does mean that I should give myself some time to take it easy as well.
How do you work best?
Love, Ruby
