To follow up on last week’s post, in a bit more of a positive tone: wanderlust. I can’t believe I’ve never written a post about this before, but now seems like the perfect time to make a start.
I love being on the road. Even with travel sickness and tiredness and everything in between, there is something calming and nurturing about just driving, be it with or without destination. Yesterday, I returned from another trip to Oxford (that I shall write more about very soon!). The trip was long, slightly scary (strong winds were a thing) and super tiring, but when it came to a close, there was nothing I’d have rather done than just stay in that car, still, forever. And it was not just because of the rain outside.
I’m yet to define an explanation for my wanderlust, or why so many people feel the same urge to travel, but there’s something so brilliantly wonderful about going places. And that is what I’m looking forward too. For at least a year, I will be able to travel as much as my budget and other time-requiring activities will allow. I can go wherever I’d like – and there is so much for me to see. There’s entire continents I am yet to set foot on, there’s countries a plenty and cities galore. Will I ever manage to see all of them? Probably not. But that’s also the beauty of it, you’re never really done discovering any place. Hell, I’ve been living in Amsterdam my whole life and I still notice new things on a daily basis.
The unknown can be scary and the unknown can be great. Most often, it’s both. And I can’t wait to explore its endless possibilities.
Where would you like to travel next?
Love, Ruby
