The Little Things

The Little Things

For the past few weeks, apart from working pretty much every day, I have also been discovering the Law of Attraction, learning more about it and trying to give it shape in my life. In case you’re unfamiliar, the Law of Attraction is the principle that whatever you manifest in your thoughts/life, be that good or bad, the universe will provide. The art of it is, to be in a positive and open mindset, and to not fear lacking something, but to be grateful for (the thought of) having it. At least, that’s my understanding of it.

Although part of the process of attracting good things into your life is to be grateful for what you already have, with all my attention on the Law of Attraction and my future plans in general, I thought it would be nice to have a look at the now, and appreciate the beautiful things I come across in every day life. So I set out to find and document those things, and gather them in a post right here (in no particular order) – a way for me to appreciate what I have, and a way for you to realize your own riches as well.

For starters, I am grateful for the little dog I watch every week. He gives me an incentive to go outside and enjoy the fresh (cold!) air for at least 30 minutes every time I walk him, and on top of that he’s adorable and gives great cuddles. I am grateful that this job came on my path and I was able to say yes to it.

Along the same vein, I am grateful for the kids that I babysit, because they’re adorable, they give me such a different perspective to the world and they just melt my heart. They take me back to being their sizes, and with that also make me feel valid and ready and good in my progressing adulthood. If I can care for tiny humans, surely I can care for me!

Another thing that I consider myself so lucky with, is my location. Amsterdam is so, so beautiful and even after all these years I run into entirely new, gorgeous views or the tiniest pretty details every day. Living in this city is a gift that keeps on giving, and even if I leave it there is no doubt in my mind that I will always love it.

I am also grateful for my (half)day off when I needed it most, and this bath. Just when my body was about to give in, I got the little break that I really needed and it was wonderful. I walked around town without having to rush. I had a glorious, fragrant, pink bath. Those few extra hours to myself simply revived me, and made me realize how important and precious time to take care of yourself is.

I’m both grateful and (still) hyped that I got to see Panic! at the Disco perform live for the second time, that I recorded Brendon’s back-flip, and that I got to enjoy the energy he and his crowd (that’s us) brings. Yes, I was absolutely shattered the next day, but it was more than worth it to enjoy this experience once again.

Last but not least, I try not to have favorites in things I’m grateful for, but I’m (probably secretly most) grateful for the bae and the endless friendship she brings. I must annoy the shit out of her 90% of the time but she’s still around and I am so glad she is. I could say a lot more on this but I’m pretty sure this post is too soppy already, so we’ll leave it at that.

What are you grateful for today?

Love, Ruby
