It’s day 11 of Vlogtober and time for another update! In the past week, two things have been standing out to me: many sleepless nights, but also getting better at what I’m doing.
Because I live quite a busy life, and I tend to be lazy and procrastinate in the morning, I wind up most days filming and editing my videos around 10 p.m.. Add to that my slow computer and internet, and suddenly, it’s past midnight. Unfortunately my work is also quite intensive, and the long nights mean I have less time to recover in between things. Last Sunday, I hit my limit and sort of crashed. I put up a vintage vlog and went to bed before 11. The lesson of the day: maaaaybe start a little earlier in the day.
The other thing I saw, was a bit more positive: I feel like I’m getting better! As the days progress, I’m getting into a bit of a routine with video making, and it’s definitely paying of. I have my set-up ready at all times (with the risk of tripping over my tripod 24/7, but sacrifices need to be made), I know how to work that mic magic, my lights are in power station’s reach… If it wasn’t all my bedroom it would almost seem professional. Along with that I’m getting the hang of editing. Don’t get me wrong, I was able to edit before, but I feel like I’ve gotten faster and smoother since I’ve been doing it every day. I’m also occasionally finding new options in iMovie, so that’s a nice bonus ;)
All in all, I’m still very pleased with my decision to do this challenge. I also fear the day I will have completely run out of ideas, but as long as it hasn’t arrived, all is well. Right now, I couldn’t imagine not making a video daily…
