It’s been nearly 500 days of the day zero project! I still haven’t figured out all my goals yet, and I doubt I will… I should probably look into that sometime soon. But this is not just a day zero update, but a general life update as well – hence, an ultra-update.

As you may or may not know, I am currently counting down the months (days is a bit premature) until I finish high school. March will be the month of my final exam week outside of centrals, in April I will sit through my last ever high school class, and in May I will sit my centrals, the grades of which will make up 50% of my final grade – oops, that is some pressure. Basically, high school will be over in the blink of an eye. A fact that you may have already noticed scares the living crap out of me.

On top of school work, me being the clever person I am, I am working on several different jobs, most of which are volunteer positions. I am blogging, vlogging, PR-person-ing and babysitting all over the place, whilst also attempting to read all the books I need to for my orals and uh, to catch some sleep every now and again. You won’t hear me complaining about any of this, since I love all that I do and I have totally brought this onto myself, but don’t be surprised if I miss out a week or two every once and again – I’d rather write and/or film good stuff once a month than bullshit every week.

As for the day zero project, there are two challenges I am proud to announce I have completed (neither of which are in fact 100% complete, but let’s not think about that): I have learned to play one of Yann Tiersen’s compositions from Amélie and I have organised a trip – wether or not this was succesfully remains to be seen! I got a songbook of some of Yann Tiersen’s work for my birthday, that of course included the most famous and also one of my favorites comptine d’un autre été: l’aprés-midi. The piece is surprisingly short and far less complicated than I thought it would be, but it gives me incredible satisfaction that I am now able to play it, and I intend to learn more of Yann Tiersen’s work.

The trip I am in the process of organising, is my exam-trip. It’s a kind of rites of passage for Dutch students to go on a party holiday immediately after finishing their centrals, so me and my friends could hardly be left behind. Instead of going to the island the majority of Amsterdam and surroundings will be headed, we chose to pave our own path. We’ll be Interrailing from Berlin to Rome, stopping in Prague, Vienna and Bologna on the way, and I am thrilled! Although I have been away from home with these people before, this will be much further, and with a smaller group – it’s going to be an amazing adventure!

It may be that I’m so tired I’m forgetting something, but I think those were all the updates I have for you today. I hope it wasn’t too tedious, and I will see you around next week, hopefully with something a little more exciting! (Don’t pin me down on it, but I’m gonna try to do some outfit-shooting!)

What exciting plans lay ahead for you?

Love, Ruby
