Is there any other appropriate way to end the year but with a(nother, I know, I’m sorta sorry I guess) round-up of the very best moments of said year? Of course I’m young and every year will probably be the *so-and-so*-est one yet, I feel like this year has been insane! Some slightly less fun things have lead to me opening up so much more to life, and in the end I’m glad for it. I have given up on regret quite some time ago, because all the good and the bad together shape us into what we are and this year was no exception. Here’s some “crazy” things I did in 2015!
Ruby in the Sky
Starting off with a mild craze (we’re going chronological on this shit), I only missed 9 weeks worth of blog posts this year, I wrote my 75th post, got my 100th like and my 2500th view. I created a Facebook page, I picked back up on Youtube. All things I loved, but held back in for far too long. It feels incredibly freeing to be back to writing, without all the worry I felt before.

Quidditch
In January 2015, the North Sea Nargles were officially founded. In February, we played our first international tournament, in April we travelled to Oxford together. Tournaments are so emotional and it’s never all fun and (haha) games, but the experience as a whole is something no one can ever take away from. In August, I played at my first international fantasy tournament in Ghent (LXG) and had the summer of a lifetime all squeezed into one weekend. Tournaments are just compressed lifetimes and I’ve been lucky enough to live many with many more to come.
Going Vegan
Something that keeps coming up, because it’s probably the most impactful thing I’ve ever done, both for myself and the planet, is my transition to veganism. I can’t believe I did it, I made it through 7 months already and how well it’s going! Even though it’s not always easy in social situations and my tolerance for seeing animal products has decreased drastically (I’ve seen too much), I’m so happy I did it and now I’m slowly making the transition in other areas too… Let’s hope I get it 100% right by the end of 2016!
Pink/Turquoise/Blue hair
If you haven’t drooled over some kind of rainbow colored hair-do, have you truly surfed the web? I don’t know when I first started wanting to dye my hair pink, but this vlog can testify it’s been at least 1,5 years. I’m still stunned by my own balls and the fact that I sat through a 4 hour long hairdresser’s appointment! I think doing this has been one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, but also one of the most rewarding. Self-five, Ruby. Well done.
Summer in the City
Only two weeks after LXG, I packed my bags and went to London to attend SitC, a dream I’d had for about 2 years. I went alone to a convention in a different country and I actually met nice people on my own. This weekend was both great as a happening and as a personal accomplishment and I can’t wait to travel up to London again this year!

Most of these achievements have been a combination of conquering my own head and doing something tangible at the same time. And they have been fun! I’m so glad I did all of the things above and I can’t wait to see what else I’ll grow the guts to do next year.
Here’s to a new year for new challenges!
Love, Ruby
