Throwback Tuesday

Throwback Tuesday

Yes, I’m messing with popular culture, sue me. This week, we’re continuing the new year’s resolution trend started two weeks back with this post, by looking back at this post! Getting confused yet? Don’t worry, I’ll guide you through it. We’ll be looking at the goals I had at the beginning of this year and wether or not I achieved them. Next week, we’re going to take a positive spin on 2015 and see what I did the past 12 months that I’m proud of!

#1 Food

At the end of 2014, I became a vegetarian. My intention was to follow this transition up by a transition to veganism about halfway through the year. I actually forgot about this challenge (I thought I was postponing going vegan until moving out), but at the end of May I did it anyway! The person that “tipped me over the edge” was actually Essena O’Neill, however I’m afraid the video that inspired me has been taken down with her channel…

#2 Exercise

I don’t even remember when I let go of this resolution, but I think it was quite early on in the year. But I still did a good few quidditch tournaments and rowing nearly every week, so I can’t be too disappointed by that really. This year I’ve really learned that I need exercise that I enjoy (wow, I know), so next  year I want to pick up dancing – as soon as I find time, oops.

#3 Study

I’ve definitely tried harder to study this year, but what it has taught me mostly is that it’s just not my style. I don’t have the focus to cramp for tests and it also doesn’t improve my grades. I do still want to stay more on top of my homework, but I won’t be trying to be a nerd as much anymore (by which I’m not saying being a nerd in any way is wrong!)

#4 Social

Ups and downs, highs and lows. I have definitely had some of my best moments while being social this past year, but I’ve also felt isolated and like an outsider a lot, which is still something I want to work on. But again, this has all been a learning experience and mistakes are just lessons we all need to have.

#5 Blogging

YES. Excuse me while I do a proud little dance (we’ll get back to that next week), but I have done a magnificent job on this one, if I might say so myself. Yes, I made a superlame joke that cannot even qualify as a pun to motivate myself, but the end justifies the means! There have been weeks where I wasn’t 100% sure what to write, but there have been few that I did not manage. Above all, writing is still as much a pleasure as it was a year ago and that’s what counts.

I think we can conclude that I managed my own expectations for 2015 quite well even though it was a whirlwind of a year. I’m so psyched for 2016! Now, to think of new goals….

Have you stuck out any of your resolutions for 2015?

Love, Ruby
