I know this is what everyone always says about everything, but I can’t believe 100 days (okay, a little less considering my inconsistency…. shhh) have gone by since my last day zero update! Spring and summer are always roaring times with something happening nearly every weekend, so it’s not really surprising that I lost track of time just now. Despite being busy, I got up to achieving some major goals these past 100 days – let’s see what we’ve got, shall we?
achieved goals:
eat vegan for a week
When I initially wrote this goal, it was eat vegan for a month. Because I thought this would be too much, I decided to make it one week. Now, I’m actually nearly three months vegan! It’s much easier than I thought it would be, although I have found it does limit your options when you’re on holiday in certain countries such as France, where pretty much all of the traditional food contains eggs, cheese and meat. I actually posted a video on this on my youtube channel, so if you want to find out more do head over there! I will probably write some blog posts on the topic in the future as well, so watch this space!
go to a Youtube-con
SUMMER IN THE CITY!!! Excuse the exclamation marks, but this was one of the best events I ever attended – a full weekend with likeminded people all around, loads of bright hair colours and more people holding cameras than people without. It’s hard to explain how much joy this event has brought for me, I couldn’t have wished for a better time than I had – I really hope I’ll get to go again next year…
Meet a big inspiration
I feel like this one is half-fulfilled… Although I did get to meet multiple amazing people I look up to at SitC, none of it really involved much deep, inspiring talks. I do realize that may be an unrealistic goal though, so I’ll settle for just meeting them – which was brilliant off its own accord!
After 2 stressful days of exams and weeks of waiting, I got a message from a friend saying the results were up. I was so nervous I actually made multiple mistakes trying to log in to the site, but when I got there, I could scream – I got an A! This is something I hoped for, but wouldn’t allow myself to expect. Had I gotten a C in this exam, that would’ve already allowed me to go to any english-taught education (as far as I know), but getting an A means that my english skills are actually better than those of a huge percentage of native speakers! Safe to say, I’m so proud of myself for achieving this and it is like a huge weight is lifted of my shoulders.
Pass DELF B1
Despite a nerve-wrecking experience and me therefor not performing at my best, I got a message on the 3th of July saying I passed my DELF B1 exam! To get in to a french uni, I would need my B2, but as of now I’m not too sure if I will, because man, was that terrifying.
Cook my own meals for a week
This is one of those goals I’m not 100% sure I completed, but I did well in nonetheless, so I’ll take it. As I started eating vegan, I also started to prefer making my own meals instead of eating the meals my parents ate with a meat replacement. Since it’s the holidays, I had all the time in the world to go and do my own groceries and make my own meals pretty much every night. The result: fun times in the kitchen and delicious food!
Pick a different dish than usual 25 times
Once again, veganism has helped me out here: eating differently has also forced me to pick my food at restaurants differently, and therefore has got me trying out loads of new things throughout the holidays. I love it! Most times, vegetarian or vegan options have loads of veggies instead of the meat, so I get my daily veggie-intake with a different style sauce each time. Hmm… My love for indian food especially has increased through this change. I love curries!
Don’t spend any money for a month
Although I think I completed this one on a technical level, I don’t think it achieved what I would’ve liked for it to achieve. There’s a number of things that a person simply needs, and I did not take these into account when setting myself this goal. In fact, I didn’t think about any rules or guidelines at all, which I should’ve, considering the impact this goal can have on daily live. Even though I did complete it, I would like to have another go at this goal in the future.
So… 8 goals achieved over the past 100 days! To be fair, less eventful times may be ahead, but for now this is a great job done either way. The most important part, I’m learning, is not to obsess over goals, but to live in the moment – Carpe Diem and all that. In the end, I set myself these goals to improve my happiness, and so far they definitely have. Life lesson!
What do you do to make yourself happy?
Love, Ruby
